Wangdi Entry #5

Cohn & Wolfe

The visit to Cohn & Wolfe skewed my perception of a PR Agency. To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect. The perception I had was from a boutique agency point of view, and not a corporate one. I was pleasantly surprised that it is so multi-faceted with a variety of services to offer, which translates into a variety of things to choose to be a part of. I loved that they pressed a strong emphasis on digital media. I  have some experience working in social media for a startup and independent launches, and really am a big advocate for social media for marketing.

I originally came into this program with the intention of going into PR, however I still find myself gravitating towards McCaan and the advertising agency. It was great to see the employees so passionate about their work in healthcare. It gave me hope that I might be able to work on something that I am not familiar with and turn it into my passion. But I definitely do not see myself going down the heath care road. If anything, I think I would have potential for the consumer side. I felt a slight curiosity with the corporate side, but I'm not too big with numbers and I only have one accounting class to vouch for my finance background.

I think it is wonderful that Cohn & Wolfe offers internship programs throughout the year. I would consider interning here if I could do it during the program, but probably not during the summer.

TTIY: Virgin America is Named the Top US Airline, For the Sixth Time!

Virgin America was named the top US Airline in the prestigious Conde Nast Traveler's 2013 Readers' Choice Awards. It may not come as a surprise that Conde Nast Traveler bestowed the honor to the airline for the sixth time this year. The airline has been winning the title ever since its launch in 2007.

It was only a month ago that Virgin America  was also named "Best Premium Class" among domestic airlines in Conde Nast Traveler´s 2013 Business Travel Poll.

This year's Readers Choice Award has a record-breaking number of readers participate in the survey. 79,268 of the readers cast 1.3 million votes for more than 16,000 properties. The number of participants is double the amount of the 2012.

Virgin America President and CEO David Cush said:

"This feedback from some of the most discerning travelers in the world is a testament to not only our innovative product, which continues to lead the domestic industry, but also our teammates' commitment to delivering excellence in guest service. This award is a credit to their hard work and belief that we can reinvent the domestic flying experience - one guest at a time."

Although JetBlue poses to be a threat with its plans of introducing first class in 2014, Virgin America is most likely to retain its position on top for the readers of Conde Nast Traveler.
