I would have thought that all the hype in the market would have been for Amazon Paperwhite, but it seems as though the new Kindle Fire is getting all the buzz in the media. Reviews are starting to pour in and it looks like this is the primary way that Amazon is doing their marketing. Of course, the new Kindle Fire HDX is on the front page of Amazon. Here it is in its screenshotted glory. Do ignore the copious numbers of other tabs that I have open.
What a simple advertisement, but one that speaks to the casual viewer nevertheless. It takes up a large part of the computer screen, meaning that you can't not notice it. They seem to be pushing the Kindle Fire HDX over the Paperwhite, probably because it can develop more of a competitive edge with other tablets rather than e-readers. In fact, its competition with the Nexus 7 is probably doing it a world of good, especially because a lot of reviews online are starting to compare the two. Mostly tech sites, such as Mashable. Reviews can serve as a form of advertising and marketing in itself. In fact, I would think that reviews are a better form of marketing than a simple advertisement. People will view Mashable as a reliable source, and pay more heed to what it deems good. However, in line with the Isakson presentation, it means that the product has to be deliver.
I'm honestly starting to believe that the Isakson presentation is completely right. The product has to serve as the marketing. And it seems as though this is what Amazon are doing-- they are embedding marketing within the Kindle Fire HDX, selling advertisements that way. However, the prowess and power of the Kindle Fire HDX seems to be selling itself among technological groups. And as I have mentioned before, the Kindle Fire HDX helps to sell Amazon's other services, such as Prime, and this is reflected in this review too. There's going to be a lot of hype about this product until its eventual release. I can't wait to continue tracking what Amazon Kindle are doing-- this is definitely turning out to be incredibly satisfying.
