Jet
Blue-
As I
would like to work on the corporate side, I was very excited to go to JetBlue.
The presentation Michael gave us confirmed my interest. His speech about the
values, the culture and the fact that the company calls its employees “crew
members” resonated with me. Even the crisis that JetBlue went through was
another element that gave me confidence in my preferences. Understanding his
and his colleagues’ deep commitment to the brand and the fact that in a crisis
situation everybody was united with a strong will to succeed was really
powerful. I think that it’s exactly what I miss on the agency side: the
commitment to one brand and the true will of making this brand, your brand,
successful. Even if the visit to the operations room was interesting, I didn’t
really understand the purpose of it and how we could, as growing communicators,
make use of it(except in a crisis situation when you have to deal with the
media).
I
also like Jet Blue’s office and thought the blue was really powerful in
creating a calm and zen-like atmosphere. I thought that the employees present in
the office looked really calm and pleasant which conveyed a nice feeling of serenity.
As
Kirby mentioned, the presentation was really interesting and informative as we
also learned some theoretical approaches such as the golden circle. I really
enjoyed the Ted Talk video he shared with us. I think that his “lessons” throughout
the presentation represented a clear and insightful way to explain the Jet Blue
vision and its actions. I also liked that it rang the bell about concepts we
discussed in class; for example, regarding the need for transparency.
Even
if I’m not really into planes and the aviation field in general, I will
definitely check Jet Blue’s website regarding their internship programs.
Evian-
There’s
nothing new this week about Evian. Its website was not updated since last week
meaning there are no major new actions going on. On the social media side,
Evian keeps on conveying nice “non-promotional” messages such as pictures or
thoughts regarding current events such as Halloween. Anyway, this “pause” gives
me time to compile the information I have already gathered and analyze it as a
whole with the final project in mind.
